The True Costs of Wage Inequality
According to a new study out from the Center for Economic and Policy Research, 40 percent of Americans make less than the minimum wage from 1968. Had the wage kept pace with productivity, it would be $16.54 an hour, as opposed to the current level of $7.25 per hour.

2012 USW Regional Rapid Response Conferences
The first-ever Regional Rapid Response Conferences will take place in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Detroit within the first five months of 2012. U.S. House Vote for China Currency Reform Gets Big USW Nod
Today’s U.S. House 348-79 vote approval of the Currency Reform for Fair Trade Act (H.R. 2378) was given a big nod by Leo W. Gerard, International President of the United Steelworkers (USW) with the following statement. He testified Sept. 10 before the Ways and Means Committee and has mobilized workers’ calls on the issue in union halls and Washington forums.
