USW District 2: About Us

• District 2 Director, Michael Bolton Michael Bolton, Director of USW District 2, began his career in 1976 in Marshalltown, Iowa, where he was a machine operator for Packaging Corporation of America (PCA). There he became active with the United Paperworkers International Union (UPIU), and in 1987, Bolton became a union staff member.
• What We Make USW workplaces are found in nearly every sector of the North American economy, from metals, manufacturing, paper, glass rubber, forestry products, chemical industry, rubber, health care, pharmaceuticals to public services, mining and energy and utilities.
• Who We Are The United Steelworkers (USW) represents more than 1.2 million members in every state of this country and every province of Canada. The USW is one of the most effective and democratic unions in North America. We have become even bigger and better with the recent merger with PACE Union.

• Resolution Supporting A Higher Renewable Energy Standard, Creating Michigan Jobs At the United Steelworkers (USW) District 2 Conference in Kalamazoo, MI. a resolution to "Support A Higher Renewable Energy Standard, Creating Michigan Jobs" was adopted March 4, 2012.
• District 2 Council Resolution #1 The Conference delegation supports and adopts the new District 2 Council, and the by-laws in their entirety, as drafted and amended from its predecessor organizations as the successor to each of the former entities; a Council that will emerge much stronger and more unified through its solidarity and its abilities to educate, service and Build Power from this day forward.
