Who We Are

The United Steelworkers (USW) represents more than 1.2 million members in every state of this country and every province of Canada. The USW is one of the most effective and democratic unions in North America. We have become even bigger and better with the recent merger with PACE Union.  Now the USW is the largest Industrial Union in North America, with more resources to serve our members!

Our members have some of the best contracts of any workers in the world.  District 2 represents members in Wisconsin and Michigan is one of twelve districts in North America that makes up the United Steelworkers.

The USW traditionally has represented workers in steel, paper, rubber, aluminum, can, glass, mining, manufacturing, chemical and other industries.  Today, the USW is the most diversified and largest industrial union in the labor movement with members working in every job classification.  We also represent workers in the electronic, retail, health care, service, public and governmental sections.
