The United Steelworkers (USW) today proudly endorsed Mike Michaud in his bid to unseat Maine's Gov. Paul LePage in Nov. 2014. USW International President Leo W. Gerard said that Michaud, a former Steelworker at the Great Northern Paper Mill in East Millinocket, has fought for social and economic fairness throughout his political career in both the Maine legislature and the U.S. House of Representatives.

Resounding Victory for Pregnant Workers!
Yesterday, the New York City Council voted in favor of the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act by a vote of 47-0! Mayor Bloomberg is expected to sign the bill into law. Once it goes into effect, women across the five boroughs of New York City will no longer have to fear losing their jobs just because they are pregnant or recovering from childbirth.
