Kentucky Dairy Closes After More Than 80 Years
More than 100 USW members are unemployed after the Goldenrod Dairy in Madisonville, Ky., closed its doors after more than 80 years. The factory, about 150 miles southwest of Louisville, produced and distributed milk and juice for sale at area retailers.

Re-dedication Ceremony held in Heritage Park
On September 14, 2013, over 200 people gathered at Heritage Park to remember and honor those who lost their lives at the former Bethlehem Steel, Sparrows Point facility that is now closed. The Steelworker memorial that once stood in front of the union hall on Dundalk Avenue commemorates 118 steelworkers who lost their lives in accidents while on the job.

USW Wins Injunction against Virginia Trucking Company
The United Steelworkers (USW) said today that the U.S. District Court in Roanoke, Va., issued an injunction on Friday against Covington, Va.-based Team Carriers for failing to live up to its contractual obligation to require the company that is taking over its business to hire its USW employees and bargain with the USW.

Forever Stamps Honor America’s Industrial Workers
The contributions of America’s industrial-era workers are memorialized on a new sheet of Forever stamps titled Made in America: Building a Nation. USW Reaches Tentative Agreement with Goodyear Tire
The United Steelworkers (USW) announced today that it has reached a tentative agreement with Goodyear on a new four-year labor agreement covering 8,500 of the company's hourly employees at six locations. A previous four-year contract was scheduled to expire at midnight, July 27.

Members of USW Local 8888 Ratify New Contract that Bucks National Trend on Workers’ Health Care Costs
The United Steelworkers (USW) Local 8888 in Newport News, Va., overwhelmingly ratified a new collective bargaining agreement this morning. The 52-month contract with Huntington Ingalls Industries, the parent company of Newport News Shipbuilding, passed by an overwhelming 9 to 1 margin. It covers some 11,000 employees.

May 22 marked the 69th anniversary of the founding of the United Steelworkers (USW). On that day in 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio, the forerunner of our union, the Steel Workers Organizing Committee (SWOC), began building of an organization to counter the years of injustice against workers.
