On Sep. 26, 2008, USW member Harold (Keith) Harris, 41, of Local 8074 was seriously injured while working at Ball Corp. in Tallapoosa, Ga.
Brother Harris' right arm was caught in an improperly guarded bottom end seamer machine. His arm was severed at the elbow.
He was life flighted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Ga., where he is in good condition and good spirits. He had his last surgery Wednesday and maybe discharged on Friday or Saturday.
The USW's Emergency Response Team's Duronda Pope assisted the family and Health and Safety's Dave Ortlieb investigated the accident.
