When Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin came to Pittsburgh for a $1,000-a-ticket fundraiser, she was met by a lively band of union protestors led by the USW’s Women of Steel.
Several hundred protestors – the majority of them union women - gathered at the USW headquarters building on Oct. 10 and marched to Westin Convention Center Hotel, where the Republican fundraiser was held.
Protestors waved signs and chanted support for Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama. They criticized Palin for ignoring issues of importance to working women including good jobs, health care, family leave, elder care and child care.
