The deadline to apply for Union Plus Scholarships, available to union members and their immediate families is quickly approaching. All mail-in applications must be postmarked by January 31, 2009.

Since 1992, the Union Plus Scholarship Program has awarded more than $2.4 million to students of working families who want to begin or continue their post-secondary education. Over 1,700 families have benefited from the Union Plus Education Foundation’s commitment to higher education.

The students selected for university, college, trade school or technical scholarships represent a wide sampling of backgrounds, union affiliations, goals and accomplishments. The selection process is very competitive since they receive over 5,000 applications each year.

We are very proud that many USW members and their families have benefited from the Union Plus scholarships over the years, including four recipients in 2008.
