United Steelworkers International Vice President Fred Redmond was part of todays' Organizing for America's health insurance reform bus tour stop. Redmond was a featured speaker at the rally in Pittsburgh. With hundreds in attendance, including many USW members, Redmond said fighting for health care for all Americans is the civil rights issue of our time, and that it is our responsibility to fight the many myths.

He told the mostly pro-reform crowd that something as important as health insurance reform takes strong leadership and action at the grassroots level. Reform will benefit all Americans, and will give those who are happy with their current insurance the choice to keep it, the crowd was told.

Vice President Redmond said supporters of health insurance reform are like a football team in the red zone about to score: "We can turn the ball over to the other team. We can surrender a touchdown, or the public option, and take a field goal - get some points on the board, make some progress. Or we can score a touchdown and win health care for all," he told a cheering crowd.
