Six months after the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act was passed, the good news coming in shows just how important the law was. Click here for more.

Six months ago, President Obama signed into law the Affordable Care Act - historic health care reform legislation that will end the worst practices of insurance companies, make coverage more affordable for families and businesses, get our country's fiscal house in order, and expand coverage to 32 million Americans who are currently uninsured.

While we still have a long way to go, this law is already making a big difference. Just Monday, Blue Cross Blue Shield announced that, thanks to the Affordable Care Act, 215,000 customers will receive refunds totaling $155.8 million. Tuesday brought more good news when the Department of Health and Human Services announced that, on average, premiums for seniors enrolled in Medicare Advantage would go down, while enrollment in the program is expected to increase.

And tomorrow marks a significant milestone in this legislation. An important new "Patient's Bill of Rights" will go into effect and finally end some of the worst insurance abuses and put consumers, not insurance companies, in control of their health care.  Click here for the USW Health Insurance Reform Toolkit for more info, including a new video showing the benefits of this law.
