We are pleased to announce the convening of the Basic Steel Industry Conference. The conference is made up of all local unions representing workers employed in the basic steel industry. The meetings are scheduled for November 30 through December 1, 2011, at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
There will be a reception for all participants at 6:00 p.m. on November 30 at the Omni William Penn Hotel. The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. on December 1 and should conclude by 4:00 p.m. The conference will focus on our upcoming bargaining in 2012 with the major steel and iron ore producers.
Conference Registration
To assist in our planning, we ask that you register for the conference in advance by completing the registration form (English or French) and mailing it along with the registration fee (see below) to: Basic Steel Industry Conference, USW, Five Gateway Center, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. This call is being extended to Local Union Presidents and Grievance Chairs, but as always, travel expenses and lost time are the responsibility of your Local Union.
Hotel Information
A block of rooms for this meeting has been reserved for check-in on Wednesday, November 30 at the rate of $119.00 per night, plus tax at Omni William Penn Hotel, 530 William Penn Place, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15219. For reservations, please call the hotel at 800-THE-OMNI or (412) 281-7100 and identify yourself as attending the USW BSIC meeting. The cutoff date for discounted room reservations is November 14, 2011.
Airline Arrangements
In cooperation with Professional Travel, Inc., we have made special arrangements for air transportation to the conference. Reservations may be made with Professional Travel, Inc. by calling 877-499-1149, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., EST. When calling, please identify yourself as a participant in the BSIC meeting and refer to Group Code 2011BSICNF. Lowest airfares require at least 14 days advance purchase.
Registration Fee
There is a registration fee of $120.00 per participant for this Conference. Checks should be made payable to USW Secretary-Treasurer.
