Brother Michael Billings is one of thousands of USW oil workers on an unfair labor practice strike against the oil industry, fighting for safe communities and workplaces. He and his little grandson prove that solidarity, strength and courage are not only #USWMade, but part of our families’ values.
“I have taught my kids to fight for what they believe in, and I want to show my grandkids that also. They have to learn that you have to stick together for a common cause, or you will be alone. I was taught that you take care of those that take care of you. That is a lesson that we have to pass on.” — Michael Billings, USW member from Local 8-719 with his grandson Easton Kelly, 3, in Catlettsburg, Kentucky.
“I feel blessed that my little boy is being raised to have a voice. After all, that's really what all of those men and women are out there fighting to protect,” said Darien Michale Billings. “To make sure all our present and FUTURE union workers have a safe place to work. This is as much for him as it is anyone else.”
