PITTSBURGH – The United Steelworkers (USW) today said that the union will host a reception at its international headquarters prior to a special screening of the new, feature-length film, “Battle in Seattle,” on Thurs., Sept. 25, at the SouthSide Works Cinema with Director Stuart Townsend and Scott Reid, president of Redwood Palms Pictures.
USW International President Leo W. Gerard, Secretary-Treasurer Jim English and Vice Presidents Tom Conway and Fred Redmond will, with Townsend and Reid, welcome questions from the media in the I.W. Abel Building at 5:30 p.m. during a reception with union members, staff and other guests.
“Battle in Seattle” opens in theaters this week in Pittsburgh. The full feature drama tells the story of a dozen characters whose lives come together during the historic Seattle protests that derailed expansion of the WTO and stars Charlize Theron, Ray Liotta, Woody Harrelson, Andre 3000, Michelle Rodriguez and others.
