About the Fund
Every Steelworker understands the importance of having comprehensive health care coverage to help meet family needs. The USW bargains hard – every day – to ensure that Steelworkers receive the benefit coverage they need and deserve. Rising medical care costs and other economic uncertainties call for innovative and constructive approaches to collective bargaining on health care and benefits issues.
That is why the Steelworkers Health and Welfare Fund was created to provide cost effective, quality benefit plan options for Steelworker members, retirees and their families.
Today, the Steelworkers Fund offers a wide range of benefit plans to more than 40,000 Steelworkers nationwide, under approximately 260 group designations. Coverages includes medical and prescription drug, as well as dental, vision, life and disability benefits.
- About the Fund The Steelworkers Health and Welfare Fund is a multi-employer plan governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the Executive Board of the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers International Union (USW).
