District 9 Announces the Tino Fulimeni Memorial Scholarship Winners

Director Daniel Flippo and the staff of District 9 are pleased to announce the recipients of the Tino Fulimeni Memorial Scholarships. Winning applications were chosen at random from a pool of over 200 children and grandchildren of Steelworkers who applied.

Congratulations to:

  • Carly Anna Parker of Northport, AL. Carly is the daughter of USW Local 351 member Ted Parker who works at USW/BFGoodrich Tuscaloosa.
  • Artissia of Fayetteville, NC. Artissia is the daughter of USW Local 959 member Connie Washington who works at USW/Goodrich Fayetteville.

Both students met the grade point average requirement and have been issued scholarship checks of $1,000.

carlyCarly graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 2013. She is continuing her education at Shelton State Community College, majoring is Nursing. Once she receives her Associate Degree in Nursing she is planning on going on to the University of Alabama to get a Master’s Degree in Nursing.

“This scholarship that I have received from Tino Fulimeni Memorial Scholarship has made it closer to my dream career as a Nurse,” said Parker. “Thank you for selecting me as the recipient of this scholarship.”
