USW Local 326 Women of Steel Committee Award Scholarship

United Steelworkers Local 326 Women of Steel Committee (WOS) in Rodeo, CA established a Scholarship for local high school students (male or female).  Women at the local launched their WOS committee in 2011 and have begun to establish projects like this.

Contestants were required to submit an essay about themselves or on “How Women Influenced America in the 20th Century in the industrial sector?”

The scholarship event was held for the first time at the Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front museum in Richmond, CA. The 2015 award winner was Jasleen Garcia from Rodeo California hands plates
