Say NO to Fast Track

Fast Track or Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) is a set of rules that ensure trade agreements, like the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), are sped through Congress with little debate, no amendment and no real chance for the public to have a say. Fast track means only a handful of people have power to make decisions about these deals, including things such as food safety regulations, human and worker rights and the protection of good, family-supporting jobs domestic jobs.

Today’s trade policies have fueled historic trade deficits and left our trading partners with bags of U.S. dollars and millions of American jobs. More of the same will only yield more outsourced and offshored jobs and shattered dreams,” said USW International President Leo W. Gerard.

Future trade deals should protect domestic jobs. Trade deals should protect the environment.  These deals shouldn’t allow countries to turn a blind eye to the abuse of workers. They shouldn’t give multinational corporations unfair advantages.
