District 3, Local 9074
I work at West Steel in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It’s a plant that makes galvanized steel bins, and I’m a journeyman millwright. My job is very fulfilling.
I am the unit grievance chair for West Steel, saving people from discipline and termination. I also serve as a union guide on the local’s executive board committee. We meet once a month to discuss important issues, report on our chapters, and make decisions together as a group.
“All in” means that we are united, no matter our race, background or differences. We stand together as one. There are no followers in our union, only people who are fully committed to supporting one another.
I’m proud to be part of the USW because it’s one of the best unions in the world. The union takes care of its members and even non-members, showing true humanity. As an immigrant, the union has helped me tremendously and I’m proud to fight for the rights of my coworkers. It’s about lifting each other up and ensuring everyone has a voice.
Are you and your coworkers ready to negotiate together for bigger paychecks, stronger benefits and better lives?
