As union members, we know there is strength in numbers. Through our affiliation with the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) we’re part of a powerful network of more than 12 million members across 60 labor unions, including teachers and truck drivers, musicians and miners, firefighters and farm workers, bakers and bottlers, engineers and editors, pilots and public employees, doctors and nurses, painters and laborers—and more.

The Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM) is a non-partisan, non-profit partnership forged to strengthen manufacturing in the United States. The AAM brings together a select group of leading manufacturers and the USW to promote creative policy solutions to international trade, energy security, health care, retirement security, currency manipulation and other important issues.

The Alliance for Retired Americans offers retirees from all walks of life an opportunity to use the power of collective action to create change in their communities and beyond. Founded by the AFL-CIO in 2001, the Alliance for Retired Americans now has 4.4 million members in its nationwide grassroots movement. Together, we fight for a progressive political and social agenda that promotes the dignity of work and strengthens families.

To APRI founders A. Philip Randolph and Bayard Rustin, civil rights and labor rights were inextricably intertwined. They recognized that Black people and working people of all colors share the same goals: political and social freedom and economic justice. This Black-Labor Alliance helped the civil rights movement achieve one of its greatest victories—passage of the Voting Rights Act. Inspired by this success, Randolph and Rustin founded A. Philip Randolph Institute in 1965 to continue the struggle for social, political and economic justice for all working Americans. APRI still carries on this legacy, working to extend democracy and empower workers.

APALA is the first and only national organization of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) workers. Its 800,000 members play a pivotal role in improving working conditions and advancing worker, immigrant and civil rights. APALA is dedicated to promoting political education and voter registration programs and to the training, empowerment and leadership of AAPIs within the labor movement. APALA works to defend and advocate for the civil and human rights of AAPIs, immigrants and all people of color as it continues to develop ties within international labor organizations, especially in the Asia-Pacific Rim.

The USW and the Sierra Club formed the BGA in 2006 because we believe we must have both good jobs and a healthy environment. The BGA unifies labor unions and environmental organizations into a powerful force to fight climate change, protect the health of people and the environment and create family-sustaining union jobs across the country.

Comprised of members from 77 international and national unions, CBTU challenges organized labor to be more responsive to the needs and aspirations of Black and poor workers while fighting for social, economic and political justice for every American.

The Coalition of Labor Union Women (CLUW) is America’s only national organization for union women. Formed in 1974, CLUW empowers women to participate at all levels of the labor movement while fighting to promote social and economic justice and increase women’s participation in the political and legislative processes.

Interfaith Worker Justice unites local labor and religious leaders to educate and advocate for workers’ issues, including wage theft, jobs, paid sick days and workplace standards, including protecting the right to organize.

LCLAA is the advocacy group for Latino/a working rights in the United States. LCLAA was born out of the need to organize and mobilize Latino/as in the labor movement and has expanded its influence the political process. LCLAA represents the interest of more than 2 million Latino/a workers in the American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), The Change to Win Federation, independent unions and all their affiliate unions.

The NCPA was started by UCLA football players and is a powerful advocacy group for college athletes nationwide. The NCPA's mission is to provide the means for college athletes to voice their concerns and change NCAA rules.

Pride at Work is an officially recognized constituency group of the AFL-CIO that organizes mutual support between organized Labor and the LGBTQ community to further social and economic justice. It seeks full equality for LGBTQ workers in the workplace and the labor movement as it works toward creating a labor movement that cherishes diversity, encourages openness and ensures safety and dignity. Pride at work also aims to educate the LGBTQ community about the benefits of a union contract and to build support and solidarity for the union movement in the LGBTQ community.

TTD represents the interests millions of aviation, rail, transit, trucking, highway and longshore workers, particularly through its work with Congress, the Executive Branch, and independent government agencies. Through TTD, the working men and women represented by the Department’s 32-member unions have a strong, united voice in Washington, D.C. and beyond.

The Union Veterans Council brings working-class veterans together to speak out on pressing issues like the need for good jobs and a strong, fully funded and staffed VA. Additionally, it holds private enterprise and elected officials accountable for their words and actions. In short, the Union Veterans Council fights every day for those who have fought for us.

United Students Against Sweatshops is a grassroots student-run organization. As a USW ally, USAS has worked together with union members to win campaigns on universities and fight destructive policies in Washington DC.
