Update on the Health, Safety and Environment Conference

We are deeply disappointed that we were unable to hold our March 2021 USW Health, Safety and Environment Conference due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.

The conference gives us the opportunity to gather with our siblings to educate, learn, network and build solidarity around health, safety and environment (HSE). Reuniting with regular attendees and connecting with new HSE representatives is something we all value and look forward to doing during our Conferences.

The USW HSE conference attendance averages approximately 1,600 participants and it remains unclear when large gatherings will be able to assemble safely indoors.

A conference of this size takes advanced planning, coordination and extensive logistics.

Your safety and the safety of others remains our top concern. When we can safely meet again indoors, we will begin the process of securing a location and conference dates, being mindful that local unions will need to use their resources for the upcoming USW Constitutional Convention in August of 2022.

As plans develop we will issue a “Save the Date” notice. This will be posted on our webpage, as well as distributed via regular USW communications.

You can find upcoming conference information and other safety related topics by regularly checking our website at: https://www.usw.org/act/activism/health-safety-and-environment.

You can find health and safety training through the USW’s Tony Mazzocchi Center at: https://uswtmc.org.

Please continue to make workplaces safer and keep building our union around health and safety!

In Solidarity,

The HSE Staff
