Arconic 309 Membership Update 1/8/2026

Brothers and Sisters,

I hope everyone had a very blessed and safe holidays! I will be trying to keep you all updated as frequently as possible now that bargaining has started!

Safety:

  • When being assigned jobs, please be requesting the SWI for the task. This is the best way for us to ensure that we’re doing the job the safest way possible.
  • If a procedure does not exist, STOP!!! Get together and figure out what the next steps are in completing the task and have the company involve the proper individuals so that one can be written.
  • Remember, if you have questions STOP, if you’re unsure STOP, if this is your first time or an infrequent task STOP!!! This will ensure that we’re setting ourselves up for doing the jobs the safest way possible!
  • If you have any resistance from the company on this, do not hesitate to contact your Union Leadership, all the way up to me! I’m going to list all our contacts at the bottom of this update!

Bargaining Updates:

  • We kicked off on January 6th, as planned. We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to all the ones that came out and rallied at the admin building for the kickoff! It was a great turnout, and this has a massive impact on what we do, so again, Thank You!!!
  • We pushed over 11 issues to the company that consisted of proposals to bring in several new jobs into the bargaining unit, work on forced/schedule OT, temp assignments, and bringing in additional work into some classifications.
  • The company did not have any proposals for us.
  • We will resume Local Bargaining on the week of January 19th.
  • Coming soon there will solidarity flags for sale at the hall, small car flags and 3×5 large flags. They will be sold at cost, contact a CAT team member for details.
  • Ronnie, Jennifer, and I will be heading to Pittsburgh on January 26th-29th, to begin working on proposals and themes for master contract negotiations.
  • Department Chairs are going to be out collecting t-shirt sizes. These will be used when we purchase our contract shirts next month. Please give your size to your chair ASAP.

Grievance/Arbitration Updates:

  • We are currently trying to get a make-up date in early January for the previously cancelled arbitration.
  • Tentative date for the next round of 5th Steps is January 20th, 2026.
  • If you have any grievances that have been held and denied, but haven’t been moved up the process, please get them to your department Chair. If they’ve been held and answered at 2nd Step, make sure that your Plant Chair has them to process them at 3rd Step.
