Congratulations to United Steelworkers Local 10-00086 Next Generation @ Merck Pharmaceuticals who just finished their first February Pet Food Drive. They plan to donate this pet food to Animal Care and Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT.)
ACCT Philly is the region’s largest animal care and control service provider and provides animal services to the City of Philadelphia by contract. Our animal control officers provide hands-on service to the city’s more than 1.5 million residents and ACCT Philly’s facility in North Philadelphia handles more than 32,000 animals, from dogs and cats, to small animals, reptiles, birds and wildlife, annually.
This will not only help the animals who are starving and dying, but the food will also go into a food pantry and will be available for free to low-income pet owners who meet the criteria. To qualify for the assistance, applicants must have proof of low or fixed income, provide photo ID, and have spayed/neutered pets (or be willing to spay/neuter their pets.)
“The Next Generation group is all about helping out and becoming more involved within the union and also helping out with community events,” said Next Generation member John Beidler. “It’s about letting our community see that union members aren’t bad people or ‘thugs’ that some groups would like people to believe.”
