The Homer Wilson Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce the 2014 scholarship winners – Krista Rai Overstreet from Salitpa, Ala. and Clyntracia McIntosh from Sweet Water, Ala.
Below is information about the winners.
Krista Rai Overstreet is a senior at Jackson High School. She is 18 years old and lives in Salitpa, Ala. While in high school, Krista has learned how to manage her time wisely and prioritize her activities. Krista’s father, Kenneth Overstreet, is the President of USW Local Union 361 at Boise-PCA in Jackson, Ala. Krista is caring, responsible and hard-working. Over the past three years, she has been a caretaker for young children and animals. Some of her hobbies include reading, hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. She is involved with the National Honors Society, Health Occupations America and a school community group known as Aggies in Action. She has assisted with organizing a blood drive and volunteered at the hospital. Krista has taken and completed all the health sciences classes at JHS and received the Career Tech Endorsement for Health Science Completer. She has also completed two college courses – English 101 and English 102. Krista has decided to attend the University of South Alabama in the fall where she will major in Radiologic Sciences. | Clyntracia McIntosh is a graduate of Sweet Water High School in Sweet Water, Ala. She is 18 years old and extremely excited about beginning the next chapter of her life. She enjoys dancing, four-wheel riding, shopping and spending time with family and friends. She is outgoing, God-fearing and shares her fun-loving personality with a great sense of humor. Clyntracia is a four-year member of the Delta Gems of Marengo County and served as their President in her senior year. The Gems are sponsored by the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She proudly served as captain of the majorettes in her third year with the band. She will be attending Alabama Southern Community College in Thomasville, Ala., to obtain her associate’s degree in general arts and then plans to go on to the University of Alabama in Birmingham in her quest to become an occupational therapist.
