USW Convention | April 7-10, 2025 Get registration information here
Saturday, June 7, Steelworkers along with their friends and families arrived in cars, trucks and motorcycles to donate food, household supplies and money to members of USW Local 3610-02 who were locked out February 1, 2014 by PSC, a scrap metal facility in Canton. The Food Drive was held at the United Steelworkers office located at Bradley Circle, Canton, Ohio.
District Director Dave McCall called for owner Carl Icon to get to the bargaining table and bargain an agreement which is fair for the workers whose labor continues to make him a wealthy man. Director McCall got a resounding cheer from the crowd when he reported on the status of lockouts affecting members of Local’s 4564 (Phillips) and 8565 (Rotek). Staff Representative Bob Andrews reminded members and their families that this Union does not run from a fight and will be at the bargaining table until a fair deal is reached.
During the speakers’ comments, praise for the work being done in our Pittsburgh headquarters was repeated often. There were numerous other speakers praising the efforts of Local 3610-02 members. Recognition was given to Nancy Parker, USW Attorney and Teresa Brown, Technician, in Strategic Campaigns for their work to assist our members in these labor battles.
This event was sponsored by the USW District 1 East Central Area Women’s Council; members Kit Walker LU 2737), Vickie Stage (LU 9187) and Beth Templeton (LU 1014) worked the event.
