Members of United Steelworkers Local 2285 in Auburn, MA took part in “A Day of Caring” project painting at a local community center, “Friendly House.” Along with other members from the AFL-CIO, they volunteered their time to give back to their community.
Friendly House assists people with: food pantry, holiday food, Toys for Tots, form preparation, immigration assistance, notary services, after school and summer programming for children. They also offer shelter and transitional housing services for families.
More than 1,200 volunteers engaged in community service projects in the Greater Worcester area on September 10 as the United Way of Central Massachusetts held its 21st annual Day of Caring. The Day of Caring is the largest one-day volunteer drive of its kind in the entire region.
