(Pittsburgh) — This year marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who was murdered while supporting striking sanitation workers in Memphis. We should all pause for a moment to reflect upon his legacy of fighting for justice for all Americans.
It is especially important to acknowledge today how the wealthiest class in America is working to create a culture of hate that pins workers and against workers and divides the country by race, gender and religion.
More than ever, we must reject this divisiveness and unite to pursue economic and social justice for all.
The USW represents 850,000 workers in North America employed in many industries that include metals, rubber, chemicals, paper, oil refining and the service and public sectors.
