Every worker deserves to come home safe at the end of the day. We’re calling on our state elected officials to support bill S.2547/HB.3675, a critical piece of legislation that will help protect the lives of utility workers and motorists stranded on roads.
This bill expands the current “Move Over Law” by requiring drivers to slow down or move over when passing stationary utility vehicles and disabled vehicles, just like they do for emergency vehicles. It gives legal protections to workers responding to emergencies and to motorists in distress, people who deserve to be seen, respected, and safe.
As USW members, we know the value of looking out for one another. This fight is about protecting working people, and your voice can make the difference. That’s why we’re heading to the State House.
Join us for Lobby Day on Thursday, October 16. We’ll gather at Church on the Hill, 140 Bowdoin Street, Beacon Hill, at 9:00am to review logistics, participate in a brief training, and then head to the State House together. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided as part of the day’s events.
If you’re traveling from out of town and need overnight accommodations, we recommend staying at the Holiday Inn Express Boston – Saugus.
Wear your USW gear, bring fellow members, and help us show up strong! Participants must RSVP for lobby day HERE or scan the QR code to sign up.
