(Pittsburgh) – United Steelworker (USW) members at nine Anchor Glass Container facilities went out on strike at 12:01 a.m. on September 1, charging that the company did not bargain fairly on central issues of the negotiations, including wages, pensions and healthcare. The USW and the company had been bargaining since July 28, 2011.
The strike involves Mould Makers, who are highly skilled and specialized craftsmen in the glass container industry. Some 140 of them are on strike at the following locations:
Jacksonville, Fla.
Warner Robins, Ga.
Skaopee, Minn,
Salem, N.J.
Elmira Heights, N.Y.
Zanesville, Ohio
Henryetta, Okla.
Lawrenceburg, Ind.
Winchester, Ind.
