Legislative Engagement

The USW is at the forefront of legislative and policy initiatives that advance our union’s core priorities, including trade, workplace health and safety, retirement security and more.

This involves working at all levels of government to win for working people, whether that’s lobbying our lawmakers, testifying before congressional committees, communicating with the Executive Branch or working alongside our Rapid Response Department to advance worker-friendly legislation. We push government agencies to enact and enforce regulations that benefit our members and their families, making us a powerful force in Washington, D.C. and in statehouses across the country.
