Head of UNI Graphical & Packaging
Born in Ferrol into a working-class family with strong trade union roots, Daniel began his trade union activity at the age of 24 in the CCOO chapter, at the arms manufacturer of the General Dynamics group, Santa Barbara Sistemas, where he worked as a draughtsman.
In a few years he held various responsibilities, from the General Secretary of the union chapter to the Chair of the Works Council. In 2016 he was elected president of the European Works Council of General Dynamics, a position he held until he left the company in 2019.
Since 2011 he has been combining his work in the company with various trade union responsibilities in CCOO de Industria, both in the defence industry sector and in the international department, where he coordinates the union strategy for more than 250 EWCs between 2016 and 2019, conducting projects and training actions and advising workers’ representatives on transnational information and consultation matters.
In 2019 Daniel moved to Brussels to take over the Graphical Secretary at UNI Europa. In this position he has been leading EU Commission funded projects and coordinated European Social Dialogue in the Graphical sector, while continuing to support workers’ representatives and national trade unions on multinational issues and organising.
Since October 2022 he occupies the Head of Graphical & Packaging in UNI Global, where he coordinates the organisation’s efforts in the interests of graphical and packaging workers worldwide.
