Paul Farrow is a lifelong unionist, having progressed from the shop floor to the head of the Australian Workers’ Union.

Paul began his career as an aircraft maintenance engineer for Hawker de Havilland (later Boeing Aerostructures Australia) in Sydney. With Hawker’s workforce organised by the AWU, Paul joined at the first opportunity. He rose from member to delegate and, in 1997, to its NSW Branch Executive. 

Paul began working for the AWU in 2004. He has served the union in a range of capacities since – including as an organiser in various industries, as NSW Senior Vice President, National Vice President and NSW Assistant Secretary. In 2023, he became the 22nd person to lead the AWU as National Secretary.

Paul was also a former Councillor and former Deputy Mayor of Camden Council.

He has served as a Vice President of both the South Coast Labour Council and Unions NSW.
