Where do you work and what do you do?

I’m a recreational worker at the psychiatric center at Hazard Appalachian Regional Healthcare in Kentucky.

What do you enjoy most about what you do?

My job is a blast. We do all the fun stuff with the patients – we shoot pool, we do a lot.

The health care sector is experiencing a lot of challenges in recent years – what are the main issues for you and your co-workers?

There are a lot of combative patients in the center, so there’s a lot of danger there, even though it’s a lot of fun as well.

What are you looking forward to the most this week?

I’m just looking forward to seeing all the changes that are taking place in the union.

What does the theme “All In” mean to you?

“All In” means every person, every sex, every race – we represent everybody.

What makes you proud to be in a union?

Just knowing that you have backup, you know that you have someone representing you and standing up for you. It’s like a family.
