District 12, Local 1853
I work as a paramedic in San Bernardino, Calif.
Serving the community is very rewarding but it can also be very trying. When you can put your critical skills to the test, those are the most rewarding moments.
This union has given me so much. I get excited every time I come to a conference or training, and I’m always motivated to go back to my local and share the wealth of knowledge. I’ve seen the impact it’s had on our union over the past few years. I feel proud to be a messenger of that.
This job is the first I’ve had that’s union. I’ve actually considered that if for some reason I don’t have this job, could I honestly work for a nonunion company? I don’t think so. That’s how important it is.
“All In” is a great theme. We had some trying times this past year with our company potentially losing its county contract for the ambulance service. But we’ve pulled through, and literally we’ve been all in. It was stressful, but we succeeded – and the company felt it. We’re back at the table in October, and we’ll be all in again.
Are you and your coworkers ready to negotiate together for bigger paychecks, stronger benefits and better lives?
