Goodyear Back Forty honored as Manufacturers of Year

David Hayes, President Local 12L – Attached is a newspaper article honoring Goodyear Gadsden as Manufacturer of the Year. Local 12L was invited to Montgomery for the presentation of the award. The plant manager, in his acceptance speech, recognized USW Local 12L and said this plant was successful because of the partnership with United Steelworkers Local 12L. This was a powerful statement for him to make in front of the Business Council of Alabama who are not friends of labor. We had a Republican Senator jump in on the picture who has not done a thing for us.  

Gadsden is living up to its label as the City of Champions, Mayor Sherman Guyton said Wednesday at a reception honoring Goodyear and Back Forty Beer Co.

Earlier in the day, during a luncheon in Montgomery, Goodyear-Gadsden was honored as Large Manufacturer of the Year (400 or more employees) and Back Forty, a craft brewery in downtown Gadsden, was honored as Small Manufacturer of the year (1 to 99 employees) by the Business Council of Alabama and the Alabama Technology Network … more
