USW Convention | April 7-10, 2025 Get registration information here
Members of Local 9211-14, who work at The Palace Alexandria long-term care facility and retirement home, flexed their collective muscle last Monday, Feb. 7, by rallying in the streets and sending a clear message both to their employer and to a provincial board of arbitration currently meeting to decide the outcome of the local’s collective agreement.
This demonstration came on the heels of a similar action taken by members of Local 6946 last fall when they convened in Barry’s Bay, Ontario, to demand that their long-term care employer, Valley Manor Inc., meaningfully engage in the bargaining process.
While the outcome of both collective agreements remains outstanding, the solidarity and strength of the membership has not gone unnoticed by the employers.
This is what collective action looks like!
