Carrier Corp., which will lay off 1,400 Indianapolis-based workers in the next three years and send those jobs to Mexico, repaid a $1.2 million tax incentive package it received from the city in 2011. The city plans to establish a fund to help the displaced workers. Those funds have not yet been earmarked for specific purposes, Mayor Joe Hogsett said Thursday. “Over the coming weeks, we will open a dialogue with those affected by Carrier’s decision, including the United Steelworkers and its membership to determine how to best utilize these dollars,” Hogsett said … more
