Action Alert: Let’s ‘Honor’ Glencore, the Worst Company Ever

The anti-union global commodities giant Glencore is a nominee for the Public Eye lifetime achievement award for extreme corporate abuse.

Glencore, the 10th-largest company in the world, owns the Sherwin Alumina plant in Gregory, Texas. The company locked its doors on 450 hard-working USW members there on Oct. 11, but that is just the tip of the iceberg for this irresponsible and greedy corporation.

In 2008, Glencore received the Public Eye Jury Award for its horrific business practices in Colombia, where its mines have been criticized for causing pollution and serious health risks to local communities. Allegations of firings, anti-union intimidation and tax evasion have followed Glencore to work sites all over the world, from the United States to Australia, Peru and South Africa.

Help us put an end to Glencore’s abuse of workers and communities and remind them that their irresponsible behavior has consequences. Vote by January 22 by visiting www.publiceye.ch.
