Last October, United Steelworkers Local 1-801 in Wooster, OH, started a Women of Steel committee . In November, with the help from a couple members from Dover, OH, they decided to host their first event – a food drive and raffle to help out union brothers and sisters who are off of work for injury or illness.
After only 17 days of collecting, on December 18, they had raised $1500 and enough food to make Christmas a little brighter for all those workers.
“I am very proud of the work the ladies have done in such a short time,” said District 1 Director Dave McCall. “It was great to see the local union officers jump in and help them with this project.”
Local 1-801 WOS Committee invites and encourages all members join them as their group continues to grow.
