Rapid Response Action Call: Our Fight to Protect Our Voice Isn’t Over!

Back in late October, we worked hard to stop Governor Mike Braun’s push for unprecedented mid-decade redistricting – and at the time, it looked like the effort had died. But now it’s been brought back to life, and the threat is real again.

Indiana House leadership brought lawmakers back this week to take up a new congressional map, and they’re expected to pass it. After passage, the proposal will head to the Indiana Senate for a vote. The Senate is the place where we have the power to stop it, but only if we make our voices heard.

This is happening at the request of the Presidential Administration, which wants to redraw districts even though maps were already updated after the 2020 Census. It’s not standard practice and puts political interests ahead of fair representation for working people across Indiana.

We cannot allow this attack on democracy.

Why It Matters to Us

  • Allows legislators to choose their voters, not the other way around.
  • Diminishes the voices of workers, voters, and communities.
  • Undermines fair elections.
  • Makes it harder to elect leaders who stand with unions and working families.

The Real Cost

  • Redistricting again wastes taxpayer dollars.
  • This plan threatens a fair, state-controlled process.
  • Takes focus away from urgent issues like healthcare, jobs, and education.

This redistricting scheme is a threat to democracy, fairness, and accountability.
