Our union represents a multitude of dedicated and highly trained frontline Emergency Medical Services (EMS) professionals who work daily providing essential ambulance services across the City of Los Angeles. Now, their jobs and the very care that our communities depend upon from their local provider are under threat.
The LA Department of Transportation (LADOT), which is responsible for regulating private ambulance services to ensure safe, reliable, and timely care, is considering a dangerous plan to deregulate them. Backed by the largest health insurance giants in LA, deregulation would allow insurers to dictate pricing and remove critical safeguards that protect EMS workers. Ultimately, this would eliminate the protections that keep our EMS system fair, stable, and equitable and that keeps working families and communities safe.
Deregulation would kill hundreds of our EMS union jobs and destroy private ambulance companies that provide equitable service for all residents in LA, regardless of where they live and what their socio economic status is, through reckless deregulation.
It’s time to support our dedicated frontline EMS workers and protect the quality care our families and communities depend upon! We need your help to make sure city leaders understand what is at stake by taking action to protect these vital services!
Tell LA city leaders to stand with EMS workers, protect local jobs, and safeguard patient care! Please join us in urging them to approve the essential rate increase and stop this dangerous plan to deregulate private ambulance services.
