Rapid Response Action Call: Tell Texas Lawmakers to Support Our Veterans!

Texas is home to over 1.5 million veterans, with more than 1.2 million having served during wartime. Many of these brave individuals have transitioned into the civilian workforce, including those who are proud members of our union. As a state and a nation, we honor their service by ensuring access to essential programs and benefits, but there is still work to be done. Our nation’s veterans and their families have access to critical resources, including healthcare, financial support, education, and job opportunities, yet many are unaware of these benefits.

Our union and our labor allies have been working on HB 1078 (usw.to/5cv), a bipartisan bill that would require standardized workplace postings outlining key veteran benefits and how to access them. But right now, the bill is stuck in the House Committee on Homeland Security, Public Safety & Veterans’ Affairs.

Most Texans know a veteran and believe that they should have every opportunity to get the benefits they earned. HB 1078 would make sure an informational poster on veterans’ benefits is placed in certain workplaces — one small step to supporting our veterans.

Making Your Voice Heard Today is Easy!

Honoring these courageous individuals should happen not only while they are actively serving, but also when they return home. Tell State Representatives to support our veterans by passing HB 1078.

We’re proud of our Veterans. Let’s keep that Steelworker energy going and support those who have our backs by pushing HB 1078 over the finish line. Please take action today!
