On October 28, USW International President Leo W. Gerard, UAW President Dennis Williams, Kentucky AFL-CIO President Bill Londrigan and USW Director Billy Thompson shared the stage with Senator Elizabeth Warren, Congressional candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes and Congressman John Yarmuth to a full house at the IBEW Local 369 in Louisville, KY.
Some of the highlights included Elizabeth Warren Stumping for Alison Lundergan Grimes.
She talked about the need to protect social security and Medicare and to honor our promises and our seniors.
“Today we live in an America where the middle class is under attack; where working families struggle; where Republicans want to run this country for the rich and for the powerful,” Said Warren. “We live in an America where some of the biggest corporations in this country rake in hundreds of millions of dollars in profit and pay zero in taxes.”
After warming up the audience, Warren introduced Alison Lundergan Grimes who sizzled with a fiery campaign speech that rocked the crowd.
“Somehow that he, the guy that goes by the “Guardian of Gridlock” and “Doctor of No,” will finally get Washington working again,” said Grimes. “He said we couldn’t afford to lose his seniority. Well I have words for Senator McConnell. Seniority might be worth something if it was not up for sale to the highest bidder.”
