Steelworkers React when Called into Action

We’ll never know when our training will be tested and we will be called to address a situation but that’s exactly what happened when volunteer firefighter and EMT Joe Hirsh sprung into action to help a woman struck by a car. 

United Steelworker Next Gen members from District 10 were conducting a voter registration event in Market Square in downtown Pittsburgh, when the woman was hit. Joe used his training and experience to stabilize the woman until paramedics arrived.

The other remarkable action occurred when Next Gen member Dave Shellenberger, who is also a member of the United Steelworkers Press Association, snapped this picture and captured the story.
