Three District 4 Locals Accept the Occupational Safety and Health A.Q.Evans Award

This week at the  United Steelworkers and Communications Workers of America 2015 Health, Safety & Environment Conference, USW Locals 956, 1300, and 1438 that represent Burrows Paper Company in Little Falls and Lyonsdale, NY., were presented with the prestigious A.Q.Evans Award for outstanding accomplishments in occupational safety and health.

A.Q. Evans was a local union president who fought courageously for the OSHA lead standard, even as hewas dying from lead poisoning and from the dangerous drugs the company insisted he take to “flush” the lead from his system.

District 4 Director John Shinn congratulates the locals for the exceptional work being done by them and their members.
