Earlier this year, United Steelworker Local 6787 collected plastic caps to help the Town of Merrillville, Indiana obtain benches for their Rain Garden on East 54th Court. A letter of appreciation was received from Ward 2 Councilman Richard Hardaway and below is a portion of his comments.
“I would like to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude for the time and effort you put forth in collecting the plastic caps. Because of your efforts we were able to get the two benches that we wanted. Sometime this spring these benches will be on display at the Rain Garden located at East 54th Court between Maryland and Carolina Street. Thank you again for all of your support in helping us reach our goal.”
