Membership Update 12/13/2024

By now, everyone should have received their Voluntary Quit Package details from the Company. If you haven’t and need it, please contact a member of the bargaining committee, and we’ll ensure you get it. Currently, only Active Employees are being considered; those on Red Card are not eligible. If this changes, we’ll notify Red Card employees promptly.

We’re planning the Employee Transfer move on 12/13/2024. This will be a significant undertaking, so please be patient. We’ll share the results as soon as possible.

On 12/13/2024, there will be additional postings for the Electrical Department to fill the 10 openings needed for CDP-E employees to backfill after completing their school in February. These postings will close on 12/20/2024 and will also involve some preferred area bidding. Again, we appreciate your patience as the chairs complete the move and provide results quickly.

I’ll be visiting Pittsburgh next week for a follow-up meeting with the Company. The biggest concern for us will be getting our CDP-M and apprenticeship programs up and running.

We received information today from Alcoa Tenn Federal Credit Union and have sent their guidelines to International for review. This ensures compliance with all applicable laws. We’re optimistic about starting to transfer funds and participating in available programs by the beginning of the year.

If you’re on vacation this week or the next two weeks, you might receive two paychecks today. Alight made an error processing the remaining vacation pay for the year, resulting in manual checks. If you have any questions, please reach out to a member of the bargaining committee for assistance.

A big thank you to the Women of Steel, NextGen, and Veterans of Steel for their outstanding work last Friday night at the Blount County Foster Association kids’ Christmas party! It was a fantastic event with a record turnout for volunteers. Great job!

This weekend, we’re participating in another charity event in Erwin, TN. Pam Neubert and Aaron Crowder will lead the team on 12/13 to assist with Operation Santa, providing Christmas for around 1000 families affected by the floods. We’ve also collected significant donations, which we’ve used to purchase Lowe’s gift cards for building supplies for these displaced families.

Lots happening this time of year, and we remind everyone to stay focused and safe!

Sincerely,
Nick McCarter
