Republic continues its insulting actions at the bargaining table
The Company and your Negotiating Committee met on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week. Republic management submitted two proposals that were almost identical, and which again failed to address our wage and benefit proposals. Your Negotiating Committee is convinced that Republic Steel refuses to bargain in a productive manner; much less do so in good faith. Their refusal to address wage and benefit issues that directly impact the men and women who make Republic Steel "happen" goes beyond being simply disrespectful, for it borders on morally repugnant.
Your USW Negotiating Committee put together another comprehensive package that gave Republic Steel a measure of relief on some specific items but kept our wage and benefit requirements intact. Needless to say, the agents of Jaime Vigil pretended to be shocked that hard-working union men and women would demand better safety language and wage raises that we have definitely earned over the past several years!
The agents of Jaime Vigil, who has made millions of dollars in profit since 2006, need to recognize our sacrifices and work with your union negotiating committee to reach a tentative agreement that is both fair and equitable!!!
It is time for Republic Steel to DO SOMETHING THAT BENEFITS THE WORKERS WHO MAKE EVERYTHING HAPPEN!!!!!
