Consumer Reports: Beware of Chinese-made Tires

The latest issue of Consumer Reports features an article in which they tested several Chinese-made SUV and truck tires. The well-respected magazine reports that tires made in China may be cheaper on the surface, but come with risks that make them no real bargain. Consumer reports writes that these tires are often of inferior quality and do not meet the standards of drivers. The article also says that because the foreign makers change so often, it is often hard to find the brand if a replacement is needed. Click here to read the entire Consumer Reports article.

Our union proudly represents tire makers and has led the fight against unfair imports, including tires. In July, the U.S. Department of Commerce said that the government is proceeding with the union’s trade case petition filed June 3 against imports from China of passenger vehicle and light truck tires (PVLT).
