Members of United Steelworkers Locals 1899, 50 and 68 and employees of U.S. Steel Granite City Works in Granite City, Illinois conducted a Holiday Toy and Coat Drive during the months of November and December for those less fortunate.
Members donated new toys and coats at plant gate receptacles. In addition, over $5,500 in monetary contributions were collected for the purchase of toys and coats for children and families in need.
The donations were given to two area agencies: Good Samaritan House, which provides temporary safe housing and basic necessities for women and children, and Children’s Home & Aid Charities which helps children, youth and families overcome poverty, abuse and neglect.
This project is just one of so many USW’s amazing members do every day to give back to our communities. If you or your local are doing good things in your community, we want to hear about them.
