Fast Track paves the way for new trade deals like the TPP that would slash jobs, and cut environmental and consumer protections
Corning, NY: (March 10, 2015) A coalition of labor organizations, including the United Steelworkers and the Communication Workers of America , and Advocacy Groups such as Citizens Action are joining together to oppose Fast Track legislation for the massive Trans-Pacific partnership (TPP).
The TPP is currently being pushed by big corporations and negotiated in secret between the United States and 11 other countries—Australia, Brunei, Canada, Japan, Chile, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, and Vietnam which make up 40 percent of the world economy.
The groups are inviting media and community members to join them in front of U.S. Congressional representative Tom Reed’s office in Corning New York to discuss the concerns about his position on this important piece of legislation.
